Every morning I enjoy a brief, sub two-block stroll from my parked car to my office in Downtown Minneapolis. I make this mini trek, the majority of the time, via the wonderful skyway system that our city has to offer it's busy downtowners. These skyways are very helpful to the folks of downtown particularly in the coldest months of the years, as they provide temperature controlled (so the city claims) shortcuts and pathways from building to building. This eliminates the need to quick-step across the street in frigid temps to one's meeting in the next tower over or throw on a parka and moon boots (though, I've seen this several times, indoors) just to walk a block over.
During my walks from car to office, office to car and from office to Target, lunch, errands, etc... I have noticed some outfits that have truly been... creme de la creme, if you will. I know Minneapolis is a hotspot for free thinkers and creative genius and self expressionism alike, however I have seen the sum of "People of Walmart," Fargo, and "Humans of New York," personified. Therefore I've taken it upon myself to hone my TMZ photography skills (seriously, do you know how hard it is to snap inconspicuous photos of people while you AND your subject are in rapid transit? it's not easy!) and post these bizarre ensembles on this blog, appropriately titled Skyway Oddities. Most, if not all, photos will be snapped from the skyways and/or streets of Minneapolis, primarily limited to downtown. We can get into the parameters of of photos shared at a later time, but know that the main source of photos shall be skyways and most likely Nicollet Mall (as the weather warms up these photos will be more abundant). I'd also like to state that I am not judging the person, just trying to share their brilliant interpretation of acceptable attire for a day in the public realm.
Now, it is with great pleasure I present to you, our inaugural post of Skyway Oddities. Enjoy.
The Jim Henson Muppet community is in mourning, undoubtedly.
I may have set the Oddity bar too high with this initial post, but honestly, I don't think this is something I will see twice in my lifetime. Pretty sure that a muppet or two lost it's head in the making of this...bag?
RIP, Animal? Zoe?
